Addressing questions about the least effective city councillor, Karen Principe

This comment is asking: would I prefer she just doubles down? Isn't it good that she noticed the errors of her ways and corrected it?

And yeah, that is a good thing. But that's not the point here.

First, she made the motion. That means that at any point she could have withdrawn the motion. For example, when she realized it was stupid.

Even before she made the motion, there was debate about whether it was in order, and the city lawyers told her it was a stupid motion. But she doubled down at that point.

Had she withdrawn the motion, the debate would have ended. Instead, she wasted everyone's time by forcing the debate and forcing the vote that she voted against.

Very weird behaviour.

I'd prefer she just do her job

It's possible that after a full term on council, she simply does not know how council operates. I'd believe that.

But more than that, I'd prefer she just kind of do her job at all. If she did any work in advance of this meeting, she would know that this was a boneheaded motion that had only one purpose: to waste everyone's time.

And she succeeded at it. She succeeded really, really hard at wasting everyone's time.

A new Jennifer Rice?

As an aside, I've also seen another comment alleging that we've got a new Jennifer Rice.

She's not quite as bad as Jennifer Rice. That's a really low bar to clear.

But she is winning the award for the least effective member of council.
