Public speakers banned from the police commission: What's next?
September 4, 2026
Speakers are banned from police commission meetings. What can we do about it?
Well, unfortunately, we're a bit limited. The law prevents council from acting - but you should absolutely tell them you don't approve of the actions of their appointee.
The UCP could act, but the government is actually just a bunch of cops in a trenchcoat, so it's unlikely.
For now, we need to be unified in making the commission's actions politically toxic. We must ensure that the political fallout is felt day-to-day, and, especially, at the polling booth.
And, we can have a bit of a cry. Happens to the best of us.
