Erin is the right councillor for the next four years.
Erin has showed up in council chambers and impressed me during her inaugural term. She asked focused questions, advocated strongly for positions and generally fell on the right side of issues.
No councillor is perfect, and I've disagreed with a couple positions Erin Rutherford has taken over the term. Her motion to cut two thirds of the bike lane budget two years into implementation was ill-advised.
But, her overall performance has been as a force for good in the ward and the city. Her advocacy for labour rights during the CSU52 negotiations and her diligent questioning and pushing for more outcome-based police funding and restricting the uncapped growth of our largest budget item were highlights of her term for me.
With an ongoing Canada Post strike and upcoming teacher's strike in Alberta, I predict labour rights and union advocacy will be a significant issue in the upcoming term, and Erin is the right candidate to steward us through that.
