This city report is making me question if anything I know is real

February 24, 2026

This report in response to Edmonton city council is surreal.

Councillors know that the biggest cost driver increasing our taxes is urban sprawl and the associated infrastructure.

So they requested a report to assess that growth, how much infrastructure is in our catalog, so they can make good decisions in advance of budget.

The report from administration did anything BUT clarify. Even the simple metric of "how many roads are there" went unanswered. The report says that all bike infrastructure that we're more than halfway spending $100M building could be entirely replaced for half a million dollars.

When asked about it, we got word salad.

The salad doesn't even taste good.
