Anne often doesn't take enough credit for her work.
Every time I speak to Anne Stevenson, she's always boosting others. When I talk about her achievements, she'll invariably bring up the other people on her team that helped make it possible.
That ethic makes her such a quietly exceptional player on council. She's well organized, effective and focused on outcomes, but she doesn't feel the need to grandstand or get credit: she just wants good work done.
Anne's history is as an urban planner, and she was instrumental in the drafting and creation of the new Zoning Bylaw, as well as related works like elimination of parking minimums and district planning.
And her effect on the Downtown is being felt. We're turning gravel parking lots into marquee parks like Warehouse Park, billions of dollars of investment are pouring in, and livability is increasing despite the extreme counter-pressure of the houslessness and drug poisoning crisis.
I want to see Anne continue to implement her vision for the next four years.
